Club Mosaik: Ur die Sonate! Aftershock...

A personified viola and a viola-ified person conduct a Dadaist dialogue about Kurt Schwitters' Ursonate. "Ur die Sonate" explores all the musical peculiarities of Schwitters' legendary sound poem with keen ears. While the voice gradually becomes an instrument, the viola begins to emit sounds, syllables and phrases, generated for example by percussive playing techniques and preparations.
Here, two strangers meet without a common language and yet find a common communication. What begins as a clownish clash becomes a highly virtuoso interplay of viola, voice and movement.
As a composer, violist, vocalist and poet, Flora Geißelbrecht has long delved into the border areas between voice, instrument, language, music and text. "Ur die Sonate" is her second solo programme and breathes fresh, sometimes slightly Viennese life into the 100-year-old lyrical milestone.
