GAME of AMBIVALENCE
A community music project about everyday contradictions as common ground
Premiere
This participatory project is located at the interface of community music and contemporary music theatre. Ambivalence is negotiated artistically: How are supposedly contradictory things lived as commonalities in the everyday lives of people with different cultural habits and social norms? The artists develop a performance in collaboration with people of different affiliations and diaspora communities in various labs.
The singers Özlem Bulut and Sakina Teyna interpret Kurdish songs and develop current chants with participants from various communities. The texts are based on conversations with people from diaspora communities. In the Percussion Lab, Hamidreza Ojaghi and Björn Wilker, in collaboration with the participating Daf players, expand the songs rhythmically and sonically in an experimental process. Visual artist Betül Seyma Küpeli develops digital illustrations and choreographer Romy Kolb transforms the music into a performance with community dancers and dancer Maartje Pasman.
Finally, the artists of the project invite you to an informal improvisational exchange at Club Mosaik. superdivers.
The evening will end with forensic political oriental techno by DJ Seba Kayan.
A co-production of MUSIC*SCAPES and MUSIKTHEATERTAGE WIEN.
