Thomas Cornelius Desi

Thomas Cornelius Desi is a composer, author, director and artistic director of the festival MUSIKTHEATERTAGE WIEN.

In over fifty of her own productions, Desi has developed a "music theatre of encounter" that explores the social impact of aesthetics. In some cases, the audience is offered active participation in play arrangements. His music theatre works have been performed at the Bregenz Festival, the Thalia Symphony Space, the Center for Contemporary Opera New York, the Linz Landestheater and various theatres in Austria and Germany. His book (together with Eric Salzman) "The New Music Theatre: Seeing the Voice Hearing the Body" became a standard work on new music theatre. The piece "Tarkovski. The 8th Film" was nominated for the Fedora Opera Prize in 2018.
