RESIDENCY PROGRAMME

THE MTTW RESIDENCY PROGRAMME - funded by Creative Europe

2023 to 2025 the MUSIKTHEATERTAGE WIEN are part of an extensive EU cultural project in cooperation with cultural organisations from four other European countries. Together with proto produciia (UKR), WithEast (EN), Wroclaw Institute of Culture (POL) and Fundatia Gabriela Tudor (RU), the project "What's next? Safe cultural multi-spaces for the multidisciplinary reflection of (post)war and (post)crisis European identity" was launched.

"What's next?"is a joint venture to create temporary working spaces for artists, cultural managers, activists and citizens in the participating European countries to reflect on and deal with current social challenges. Common to all activities and residencies is the aim to enable coming together, reflecting and collaborating in collective authorship processes.

As a festival for contemporary music theatre formats, MUSIKTHEATERTAGE WIEN has a lively interest in the creation, development and commissioning of new works. The creation of such is preceded by a process of research and experimentation that takes time and focus. Artistic energy is the central force in this process, which is not primarily oriented towards delivery and performance dates.

Through a curated approach to the selection of participants for the residencies in Vienna, MTTW provides international artists with safe and undisturbed space to work on multidisciplinary music theatre projects without expectation of results. It is also important to us to give the artists the opportunity during their residency to gain an insight into the local contemporary music theatre scene and to develop a relevant artistic exchange with it in order to strengthen their networks in the long term and sustainably.
